Rohan cradled Amelia and
murmured into her hair. The glow faded from his eyes as his dragon
receded.

Amelia didn't open her eyes.
She was breathing again but her heartbeat was weak and erratic.

“Will she be okay,
Daddy?” Tessa asked as she took Amelia's hand.

“I don't know,
sweetheart,” he answered. “I...don't know.”

Rohan felt hands on his
shoulders. Edriq and Zul had come after him. They had been standing
at his side, watching him in silence as he fought to save Amelia.

“Done,” Zul
reported. “We killed every Slayor in the cave.”

“This is just one of
their hiding places,” Edriq said. “There are more of
them. We haven't killed them all.”

“But we will,”
Zul growled.

Edriq stepped forward and
said softly, “Let's go home.”

Carefully, they made their
way out of the pit and out of the cave that was littered with the
bodies of dead Slayors. Once they were out in the open, Zul shifted
into dragon form and flew off with Tessa.

Rohan held Amelia in his arms
and shifted. He curled his talons firmly over her body and soared
into the sky. He knew Edriq was following closely behind them,
watching their backs and making sure they all made it safely home.

Dawn was just breaking when
they landed on the lawn in front of the mansion.

Mrs Vomae immediately rushed
out of the house once she saw them. She ran to Tessa and hugged her
tightly.

“I'm okay, Mrs Vomae,”
Tessa said, wiping away the woman's tears. “I'm home.”

“Yes, yes! Come in
quickly.” Mrs Vomae hustled them all into the house and locked
the doors.

Rohan carried Amelia into his
bedroom and placed her carefully on the bed. Mrs Vomae hurried in
with a basin of water and some towels. “I will take care of
her, sir. You need to rest...”

“No. I will care for
her,” Rohan said, taking the towels from Mrs Vomae. “I
won't leave her.”

Mrs Vomae's worried gaze
darted between Rohan and Amelia. Finally, she nodded and said, “I
will bring up a tray of food.”

“I'm not hungry...”

“The food's not just
for you, sir.” As Mrs Vomae exited the room, she said very
quietly over her shoulder, “I'm sure she'll be hungry when she
wakes up.”

CHAPTER
THIRTY

Amelia opened her eyes and
blinked slowly. For a moment, she kept absolutely still. Only her
eyes darted frantically to and fro. She couldn't recognize her
surroundings. The last thing she remembered was being bitten by a
horrible giant snake.

“Tessa!” she
gasped and jerked upright.

She struggled furiously when
a pair of strong hands caught her and pushed her back. “Let me
go! Where's Tessa? I have to...”

“Amelia! Amelia, calm
down. Tessa's fine. She's safe. You're safe...”

Amelia looked up into Rohan's
handsome face. He smiled at her, touching her face tenderly before
pulling her into his arms. “Oh Amelia,” he breathed,
hugging her tightly. “My Amelia...”

“Rohan…?”
She closed her eyes and sagged against him. “Tessa's really
okay? What...what happened? I thought I'd died...”

“You were willing to
sacrifice your life to save Tessa,” Rohan said, taking her
hand. “You saved her, Amelia.”

Amelia nodded and shuddered
as she remembered her frightening, final moments. “So...who
saved me?” she asked at last.

Rohan looked deep into her
eyes and said, “My dragon claimed you. You—are a dragon
mate.
My
mate.”

“I don't understand...”

“As my mate, your life
is now linked to mine. Your lifespan has been lengthened to match
mine. Your body has also changed to become stronger and more
resilient.”

“Wow. Your dragon has
made me strong...” she muttered in amazement.

Rohan smiled and kissed her
forehead. “You have always been strong, Amelia.”

As Rohan laced his fingers
through hers, Amelia whispered a word very softly, “
Maiyangraek
o
.”

Rohan inhaled sharply. “What
did you say? Say that again.”

Amelia frowned and repeated
the word. “I don't really know what it means but it's
something my mother used to say to me. I don't have many memories of
my parents, but I remember this word.”

Rohan took both her hands in
his and said, “It means 'I love you' in the old Dracan
language.”

“Oh.” Her eyes
widened. “So that means...”

“Yes, Amelia, your
mother was a Dracan.”

She fell silent for a long
time. “My father was human,” she murmured. “Does
that mean...I can't shift into a dragon like you?”

“I don't know,”
Rohan answered honestly. “Most of the Dracans have lost their
ability to shift. It doesn't matter if you can shift into a dragon
or not.” He touched her nose and smiled. “There is no
doubt at all that you have the heart of a dragon, Amelia.”

She blushed and looked down.
“Oh, this...” She touched her soft, satin nightdress in
surprise.

“Mrs Vomae, my
housekeeper, got this for you. She insisted you'll be much more
comfortable in this.”

“It's lovely,”
she whispered, running her hand over the cool, smooth material.

“Are you hungry,
Amelia? Mrs Vomae prepared a lot of food...”

Amelia reached out and
grabbed Rohan's wrist as he got up. “I'm hungry,” she
said slowly. “In fact, I'm starving.” A delicious
shiver coursed through her body when she saw Rohan's eyes darken with
desire.

“But...it's not food I
need.” She leaned in closer and whispered in his ear. “It's
you.”

CHAPTER
THIRTY-ONE

Rohan stared at his
beautiful, strong, amazing mate and saw the want and hunger in her
eyes. Amelia had survived his dragon's claiming fire and she was now
bonded to him heart and soul.

But he had yet to claim her
body, and take her completely. She wanted him, craved him and needed
him. His dragon had awakened her mating instinct, and she was
prowling towards him with only one thing on her mind.

Rohan waited for her to come
to him. Her skin was rosy and radiant, and her pulse and temperature
had returned to normal. He had watched over her for three days,
watched the venom clear from her bloodstream and the glow return to
her face.

He raised his arms to let her
pull his t-shirt up over his head. When she ran her hands down his
chest, he couldn't control himself any longer. With a growl, he tore
her delicate nightdress from her body and spread her beneath him.

She raised her hips to him
and whimpered, “Please...”

Rohan shed his pants and
freed his rock hard, throbbing cock. He covered her with his body
and kissed the red, dragon-shaped mark on her shoulder.

She cried out when he grabbed
her breasts and began to suckle her. Amelia arched her back, giving
more of herself to him. Rohan teased her erect peaks with his tongue
and teeth, biting her and licking her, and tasting every lush inch of
her.

Pushing her legs wider part
with his knees, Rohan nudged the head of his cock into her and
gritted his teeth. He wanted to bury himself deep inside his mate,
but she was so tight.

Amelia gasped and wiggled,
trying to impale herself on his huge cock. Rohan thumbed her clit in
slow circles, making her cry out in pleasure.

Very slowly, he inched his
cock into her wet, hot pussy. Amelia panted as she fisted the
sheets, her channel rippling and pulsing around him.

“Take me, Rohan,”
she whispered, “I want you inside me, now...”

Rohan looked into her eyes
and pushed into her body with one final thrust. Pinning her hands
above her head, he pistoned in and out of her body, gradually
increasing his rhythm until he was pounding furiously into her.

Amelia screamed in ecstasy as
he fucked her harder. She loved what he was doing to her, and he
roared as he took her harder, faster, deeper. Her nails dug into his
back as she rode the wave of pleasure.

With a final cry, she
shattered completely beneath him. Rohan roared his release as kept
moving inside her as her pussy greedily pulled at his cock, milking
every drop of his seed.

Spent and sated, Rohan's head
fell forward and he pressed his forehead to hers. “Mine,”
he said breathlessly. “My mate. My beautiful, amazing,
dragon-hearted mate. I love you, Amelia. So, so much.”

She blushed and pushed
herself up on her elbows. “I want to go see Tessa,” she
said. “I need to make sure she's all right...”

“We better get dressed
then.” Rohan grinned. “I'll introduce you to my
brothers. Zul and Edriq have been coming up to the room every day
and messaging me every hour to check if you've woken up.”

“I can tell Tessa
adores them. She is always talking about her Uncle Zul and Uncle
Edriq. They must be such fun, wonderful uncles to her,” Amelia
said.

“They are,” Rohan
huffed. “But watch out, they're also the most terrible nags
and worrywarts. You've been warned.”

“I love them already.”
She laughed and pressed her lips to his to kiss his scowl away.

“And I love you!”

CHAPTER
THIRTY-TWO

Amelia eyed Tessa curiously
across the table. The girl was giggling and whispering furiously to
her dad, and giving Amelia sly, mischievous glances.

At Rohan's insistence, she
had moved into the mansion. She was his mate, and she would be
targeted by Slayors. “You have to stay with me—for
safety reasons,” Rohan told her.

“You just want to have
sex with me every night,” she teased.

“That too.”

Friday night was their date
night. Rohan took her out to a different restaurant every Friday
night. Zul and Edriq would take turns babysitting Tessa, but
tonight, Tessa had insisted on coming along. The impish little girl
was up to something, but Amelia just couldn't figure out what. Come
to think of it, Zul, Edriq and even Mrs Vomae had been giving her
knowing smiles and she had caught them whispering excitedly among
themselves for the past week. They were all in on this. Whatever
this was.

Tessa had put on her best
dress and shoes for this dinner, even though they weren't going
anywhere fancy.

When Rohan said they were
going to Papa Pizza, that great pizza place where they'd had their
first date, Tessa had clapped and cheered excitedly. “Yay!
Let's go, let's go, let's go! We're going on a date with Miss
Amelia!”

Rohan had even requested to
sit at the very same table where he had sat with Amelia on their
first date.

So here they were. The three
of them. Having pizza at Papa Pizza, the best pizza place in the
universe.

Except Tessa and Rohan
weren't really eating. They were too busy whispering, chuckling and
elbowing each other.

“Come on, Daddy, do
it,” Tessa urged, nudging Rohan impatiently. “I'll take
it out for you.” Amelia watched in amusement as Tessa dug into
her father's pocket and eagerly pulled out a small box. Quickly, she
hid it behind her back and grinned at Amelia.

“What are you doing,
Tessa?” Amelia asked. “What's that in your hand?”

“Nothing!”

“Let me see.”

Tessa shook her head and
giggled. “Daddy!” she squeaked. “Take it!
Quick!”

“What are you two up
to?” Amelia narrowed her eyes at them.

Rohan and Tessa exchanged a
look. Winking at Tessa, Rohan went to Amelia's side and dropped to
one knee. He held out the box and opened it, presenting her with a
sparkling diamond ring. “Miss Amelia, will you marry me? Will
you marry...
us
?”

Amelia gasped. “Oh,
Rohan...”

Tessa jumped up and down
beside Rohan and squealed, “Will you marry us? Say yes! Marry
us!”

Amelia pressed her fingertips
to her lips. Marry
us
!

Rohan and Tessa weren't just
referring to themselves. They had included
everyone
in the
proposal.

Amelia forced a shuddering
breath into her lungs and she covered her mouth with both hands.
Overwhelmed with emotion, her eyes began to blur with tears.

She loved them. She loved
them all so much.

She knew what Tessa and Rohan
were asking, and she knew what her answer would be.

If she said yes, she wasn't
just marrying Rohan Draek.

She would be saying yes to
Tessa, Rohan's brothers, his people, his life. Rohan might not want
the title, but in the hearts of the Dracans, he was their king.

The Dracans were her people
too.

“Oh Rohan! Tessa!”
Amelia cried and threw her arms around the both of them. “Yes!
Yes!” she said, laughing through her tears. “Yes!”
