to the moment. If she got lost in his kiss, he’d
never get this moment back. She had to make
her decision now. The bet was but a ploy, a
reason she could give herself to let him have a
chance. He didn’t really need to prove himself.
She already knew more about him than most
anyone in his life. Their close working
relationship guaranteed that. Two people could
not hold life and death in their collective hands
without forming a bond and without each of
them knowing the person beneath.
Knowing he had to, Li reluctantly parted
their lips and pulled back to look at her, forcing
her to do the same. “Tell me what you want,
Nikki,” he whispered. If she needed him to
seduce her into giving him her heart, he would.
Finally, she let the tears fall and a little
sob followed. “You! I don’t want this to end, Li.
Not after a month, not ever. I love you so
much!”
He grinned at her. “Then give me my last
orgasm and we’ll get on with our lives.”
She barked a laugh through her tears.
“You can’t stand to lose, can you?”

“That’s not it at all. I promised you I’d

When he began to move again Nikki
groaned, picking up his rhythm immediately.

Chapter Five
Vegas had been wonderful. Looking back
on the time she and Li had spent there, Nikki
had to laugh. They’d fucked like rabbits, and
she’d enjoyed every blessed second of it. Li had
convinced her to give a relationship with him a
chance, but it wasn’t just any relationship. By
day, things had been as they always had been
other than a few public gestures from Li that let
their friends and colleagues know she was
definitely taken. Nikki didn’t mind, though. She
found it rather endearing.
By night, though, Li had begun to show
her exactly what it meant to be a sexual

her guide, Nikki had entered a world where she

He had been right. But no longer. Over

matter anymore. If a child was conceived, it
would be one more reason to love Li. She

Li had been on call tonight. He’d been at
the hospital late, and Nikki’s heart leapt when

Without another word, Nikki sank to her

So did she. It was an unspoken rule neither
ever broke. For that, Nikki was thankful. She’d
hate to break the moment so he could cleanse

When he didn’t pull away from her, however,
Nikki indulged herself once more, taking him

“Keep that up and there won’t be
anything left to do.” He pulled her to her feet,
whipping off the nightgown in one smooth
motion to let it land on the floor beside them.

Li scooped her up and laid her on the bed,
covering her body with his larger one. He was

her, he raised her arms above her head to hold
them there with one hand. With one last kiss,
he leaned across the bed for the nightstand and
the little packages he kept there.
“No, Li,” she whispered. “Not this time. I
want you inside me. Only you.”
He stopped and stilled, looking into her
eyes. “Nikki?”

“Love me,” she pleaded, not flinching,
not hesitating. “I need you to love me.”
With a soft growl, Li thrust into her in
one smooth stroke. “Oh, God!” Sweat
dampened his skin, and he held himself
perfectly still for a few moments. Nikki
squeezed him with her inner muscles, and he
groaned. “You’re going to kill me, sweetheart.
Don’t move.”
“Move in me, Li,” she whispered, wanting
to seduce him. As much as he’d given her since
she’d let him into her life, she wanted to give
him this. “I want you to get as much pleasure

Gingerly, Li began to move. It seemed to
take him a few strokes before he had his control
back, though his heart pounded hard against

Nikki moved with him, watching his face

me fully.” The man managed to look smug.

He laughed, his eyes sparkling with
merriment. “I confess, I wasn’t expecting it so

soon, but I’m certainly glad you finally let me

She caressed his face lightly. “I love you,
Li. It was sneaky of you to follow me to Vegas,
but I’m so glad you did.”
He grinned. “This is one thing that
happened in Vegas I’m glad didn’t stay in
Vegas.”
