About thirty minutes of thinking went by before Mya started to stir. Without looking around the room, she eased out of the side of the bed opposite of where he sat going towards the bathroom. He sat quietly awaiting her return. They needed to talk and they were going to do just that. The words of the poem slash diary entry was evident of the subject of love but he needed to hear the words come from her mouth in order to fully believe them. He processed the meaning or hidden meaning behind them but if she doesn’t speak them, they will turn into all talk.

“Shit, Barron?” Mya spoke up startled. “What are you doing here?”

“I came to see you.”

“Why?”

“I was worried about you.”

“The baby is fine. I haven’t been experiencing any pains or anything. She’s kicking right now as we speak.”

“Don’t get me wrong, I am happy to hear that my little princess is kicking up a storm. But I said I was worried about
you
.”

“Why?”

“You left before I could explain the situation to you.”

“There was nothing to explain. You get your rocks off in different places. I see that now. Kim’s nasty ass was never a friend of mine, the events of today just further let me know how much she thought of me.”

“I only get my rocks off with you.”

“Except for earlier when she stepped her fake ass out of your bedroom. The bedroom you have begged me to sleep in only to lay with another when I’m not available. You were in a towel Barron and she was getting dressed.”

“Nothing happened between us Mya. Even if I did sleep with someone else, why the hell would I do it at home where you could easily walk-in?”

“Uhh, mainly because it’s your house. Not mine. I just live there because I’m having your baby, nothing more. Who are you trying to fool, me or you?” Mya asked with her arms folded across her chest.

“What are you trying to say? Trying to fool who about what?”

“Barron if the condom would have never broke, would we be where we are? Would we have gotten to this point? Would you have pursued me? Wasted this much time with me? I figure the answer is probably a no.” Mya swiped a tear that had slid down her face. Barron was stunned by the mirage of questions thrown at him that he had to fight to find his voice.

“Why don’t you answer those questions for yourself? Instead of assuming you know what my answers would be, take a long dig into your heart and tell me how you feel.”

“The answer is no.” Just that simple word ‘no’ could go in many ways. She didn’t offer any other explanations, just no.

“That’s it, just no?”

“If it wasn’t for a drunken night at the club and wanting to step out of my prudish ways, we never would have met. We never would have ended up back at my place doing all kinds of scandalous things that resulted in the condom breaking. I never would have ended up pregnant. Meeting you has been
like a domino effect.”

“How so?” Barron was scared of what was going to come out of her mouth but he braced himself to hear it anyway.

“Meaning since it’s been publically known that I am pregnant with your baby, I lost my job and the associates I had, even though I don’t really give a damn about them. Losing my job I had to depend on someone else to basically take care of me. My feelings have been hurt more than I can ever recall from the females confronting me about you, females being fake trying to bed you, and the constant tears I have shed. It’s my fault as to my feelings being hurt, I take full responsibility for that. Obviously it was just the pregnancy hormones that make me so sensitive or sharing my body with you was causing me to confuse my feelings. I really don’t know which one it was but I’m tired. I don’t want to hurt anymore.”

“What exactly are you trying to say?”

“We should strictly be co-parents.”

“Is that what you really want?”

“Yes.” Mya said after only a moment of hesitation. Barron felt a pain in his chest that he had never felt before. Without saying another word he walked out the room, then the house without a backwards glance. So much for talking.

Chapter sixteen

Since the discussion between Mya and Barron, no other serious conversations
has taken place. They had interaction with one another at a bare minimum as if nothing had happened. Mya went back to his home after staying with Damon for two nights. She felt she was more of burden to him being that he was in a new relationship no matter how many times they refuted that statement. Mya refused to discuss what took place in the bedroom with Damon or Tracy, she pretended that nothing was awry. Later when they asked why he left the way he did, she just stated they came to a mutual agreement to be co-parents from now on.

No more talk of relationships and talk of love ever after was going to come from her. They tried to tell her something about their discussion with him but she didn’t want to hear any of it. It was bad enough she had to pretend to not be bothered that she would never have Barron the way she dreamed. When she delivered that one powerful ‘yes’ telling him the biggest lie in history, that she just wanted to be the mother of his child cut deep. So deep that when he walked away without saying anything else, she literally broke down to her knees.

Per her wishes, Barron didn’t try hinting at anything of a passionate nature towards her. In fact he was the perfect gentlemen by not even looking at her in any type of lustful way. Mya figured why would he being that she was as fat as she was being seven months pregnant. Roughly one more month and she would be pushing out the only thing of Barron’s that she would have until the day she took her last breath. Just that thought brought tears to her eyes. The thought of never being with him in an idealistic setting ever again broke her heart in a million pieces.

“Are you alright?” Barron asked
out of concern but he made no attempts at comforting her.

“I’m fine.” Mya tried to conceal the shakiness in her voice. Inhaling a few deep breaths in hopes of calming her erratic heartbeat.

“Are you sure? You don’t look fine.”

“Gee, thanks.”

“You know what I mean.” Barron’s face was void of all humor. He had a mask of seriousness on at all times. The look on his face that held no emotions towards her made her feel like she was being ripped apart all over again.

“I’m fine. Just hormones as usual.” She lied, which has become a part of her daily ritual.

“Figures.” Barron said so low that she barely heard him. “What are you doing up so early?”

“I couldn’t sleep.”

“Kicking?”

“Nah, just uncomfortable.”

“Is there anything you need? I mean to help you sleep better or be more comfortable.”

“No thank you. I will be fine.”

“Of course you will.” He replied. “Well I’m off to train. Your appointment is at two right?”

“Yes. Would you like something to eat or something before you leave?”

“No thank you, I can’t have anything too heavy. I will have a shake when I get to the gym.”

“Oh okay. Well I guess I will meet you there.”

“I can pick you up so we can go together. No need to go separately unless that’s what you prefer.”

“That’s fine.”

“Alright I will see you later.” Barron said walking up to Mya as she stood leaning against the counter bending down to kiss her stomach. With one final whisper of love to his unborn he was out the door. How Mya had longed to hear those words of love from him.

Later in the day Mya was busy trying to remain relaxed and daydreamed about how it would be to one day marry Barron. Just because she couldn’t have the real thing, she could damn sure fantasize about it. How it would feel if he came home every day with kisses and hugs. Even how it would feel to have him curled up behind her as she slept. How sweet it would feel to hear his heartfelt whispered words of love and forever. She often wondered how she would feel if and when he had moved on with his life. How terribly bad it would hurt to see him with other women knowing full well it would never be her. Why couldn’t he love her? Why wasn’t she good enough? She knew it wasn’t her size because he seemed to love it when they did things that lovers do. But then she thought, why would he complain when he was living in the lap of luxury. All the goodies he wanted like an all you can eat buffet without having to pay.

The mistake that females often make when they interlace the fine lines of sex and love has bitten her in the ass. What all started as great sex mixed with her actually falling in love with Barron quickly turned into a one sided love making dance. Letting him continue to do all sorts of things to her body while her feelings had developed well passed just liking him is what screwed it all up. Women really do express themselves through their bodies when men can just get off and be done. All the while she thought just being at his beck and call, giving him the attention of an actual girlfriend that he would somehow see what she had to offer. Stupid move that so many have made when the truth is that it’s a coping mechanism. They will never be more unless they require more.

“Who the hell could this be?” Mya asked a loud referring to the ringing doorbell. “Hey what are you doing here?”

“I came to see you.”

“Why? Shit hold on my phone is ringing.” Mya ran to catch her phone before it stopped going off. She turned around at the sound of the closing door. “I don’t remember inviting you in and Barron isn’t here.”

“Like I don’t know where Barron is. I am his boy remember? I know even when you don’t.”

“Uh okay. So what is it?”

“Since he is finally done playing love sick slave, why don’t you let your boy slide in?”

“Excuse me? Slide in?”

“Stop with the innocent act. I know you get down with the best of them. What us common nigga’s can’t get no play?”

“Fool this ain’t no innocent act. You wouldn’t know who or what I get down with homeboy. But F.Y.I. you ain’t it.”

“Come on now, Kim already done dished your dirt. I’m just trying to get my taste. ”

“That raggedy bitch don’t know shit about me or what I do. For you to listen to a bitch just because her jaws sucked ya dick good to get closer to your
famous
boy is S.T.U.P.I.D. Nothing that comes out of that dick holster she calls a mouth is ever true. And yo dumb ass came running over here to try your luck with a real woman, nigga please, you couldn’t touch this with a ten foot pole.”

“Bitch you think you a real woman. You just like the rest of these money hungry hoes out here that thought they caught B.A.’s ass. He just passes their asses right on over to me. Sometime we even co-exist. Who you think sent Kim’s ass his way?” He chuckled at his own dead ass joke.

“That is disgusting. Barron is supposed to be your boy and you trying to bed his…” Mya paused because she didn’t really have a dignified title.

“Exactly, bitch you ain’t shit to him. Just like Naomi’s ass.”

“So damn foul, I’m carrying his baby you dumb ass. That is trifling as hell to try and bone the mother of his child before, after, or during the pregnancy.”

“At least I know you couldn’t blame it on me
for getting you that way.”

“Bitch you stupid. There is no way in hell I would attempt at giving you the time of day. Not now not ever… I’m not that Naomi bitch. And I guess you fucked the nasty stripper too huh?”

“Later that night after your little scare. Somebody had to record it.”

“You sneaky son of a bitch. You won’t get away with this, you do know that right?”

“Please, he’s made it very clear he’s done with your ass. The time stamp on your ass has already reached its expiration.”

“Fuck you and get out!”

“Gladly. Maybe you’re right this ain’t gonna work. If he is already tired of the pussy it ain’t nothing I want with it.” “Peace.”

Mya couldn’t believe this bastard had the nerve to come here talking all that bull. Tracy was right, he was up to something. It’s just so frustrating to have this many people against them. The sad part is that they weren’t even together but still had haters that didn’t want them to make any attempts to be together. Well, all accept their families. Speaking of their families, they will all be coming into town in two weeks for the baby shower.

Already t
he tension that fills the house is uncomfortable for her that’s not even adding the extra bodies. Extra bodies that’s going to inquire on what happened from the time they were last together in Arkansas until now. Of course the video has been a constant question about what’s going on in Atlanta but that was easily avoided when it was proved that it wasn’t him. Mya wasn’t even sure she was going to tell Barron that Davey came and tried to make a pass at her. Besides would he even believe her? Barron did deny actually having sex with the two women but he was with them up until that point. Davey says he recorded it so who’s to say that he isn’t the one telling the truth?

~

“What are you doing back here? Did you come back to rub in some more dirt?” Mya answered the door for the second time with a harder edge then before.
