“Are you okay with this, Gordon?” he asked. “I’m not talking about a one-off.”

Gordon nodded, and that inscrutable look vanished. Warren realized that Gordon had been worried and probably afraid that Warren wouldn’t want to even consider this as being a permanent thing, let alone accept it.

“I’ve discovered that I have a lot to learn about this relationship business, outside of an actual contract, Gordon, while you appear to have considerable skill in that regard. You’ve been my friend forever, God knows why, seeing as I’m a self-centered, arrogant asshole, to quote my sub, although I think she actually called me a tight ass, too, and a coward. Hell, you’re my only real friend, and I find that I don’t want to lose you.”

Gordon responded immediately. “I shouldn’t have asked her to stay here, Warren, but the temptation clouded my thinking. I don’t want Haley to come between us, except in the literal sense, like what we just did. But I want her to be part of us, part of our lives, too. I thought that maybe you had felt the connection that night at the Club.”

Warren said, “I took a risk that night, Gordon, although I didn’t know that’s what I was doing at the time. And I tried to make it Haley’s fault by asking her to choose. Except she knows me too well and put it back on me. I felt something that night, Gordon, but I thought it was just jealousy. Hell, I
was
jealous. And I’m probably going to need help with that, too. The two people who mean a lot to me had connected. And I know you paid attention to Haley’s pleasure while I took mine. I was jealous like a little boy, and then I took my toy and went home. Except Haley isn’t a toy. And I did what I always do when my emotions get stirred up and I don’t have total control. I retreated. But this time I hurt someone I really care about. It took a while to figure it out, but I did.”

Gordon nodded. “You have no idea of the whole package, Warren. She is so much more than who she tried to be for you. I think you’ll like what you find. If she lets us continue this ménage.”

Warren stiffened. “I’m not going to think that way. Failing isn’t an option. The two of us together make a formidable team, my friend. When I fuck up, and I will, you’ll be there to support her, and the two of you will teach me how to be more,.. I guess the expression would be more human. And I’ll step in when you indulge her too much. Because you will indulge her and then complain that she is bratty.”

Gordon laughed and replied, “But discipline for bratty behavior is so gratifying, Warren. Think on that.”

“Haley does like subspace from time to time,” Warren acknowledged. “Better we use edge play. Taking our sub to the edge over and over and denying her release is quite effective.”

“Haley doesn’t want to hear about edge play, Warren,” a quiet, feminine voice broke into their conversation. “I have a safe word, you know.”

Warren cuddled her to him and kissed her forehead while Gordon climbed up beside them to run his hand over her hip.

“I promise to try and avoid any and all behavior that might require the use of your safe word, honey,” he assured her. “But you will take correction.”

Gordon patted her hip and asked, “You okay with this threesome, Haley?”

Warren threw him an irritated glance but tamped his inner control freak down.

Haley sighed. “I think we should take it one day at a time, Gordon. I’m overwhelmed at the moment but content, too, so that’s probably a good sign. But I can’t go back to being Ms. Totally Perfect. And that’s going to piss you off, Warren.”

“I’ll learn as we go along, Haley,” Warren said. “There will be some things I can’t tolerate, but you know what they are, just as you know the things I bend on. I’ve been doing a lot of thinking about your presence in my household over the past year, and I have bent more times than I realized. We also need to figure out where we are going to live together. Madeline is going to retire and so is the gardener. I find I don’t have an attachment to the family home. In fact the only good memories I have of that place seem to be connected to you, Haley.”

Gordon chuckled. “She’s been good for you, Warren. I feel honored to be part of this relationship. And there’s plenty of room here.”

Warren said, “There’s a little matter of my pseudocollar, Haley. I should have added to your count earlier, but I’ll come up with something to correct you later, I’m sure. Maybe a ring would be in order, unless you plan to drop that in the toilet as well?”

Haley struggled to a sitting position, her back now snuggled against Gordon’s chest, and faced him. Her eyes were enormous and her nipples hard, already reacting to his implied correction.

“She threw your collar in the toilet, Warren?” Gordon’s shoulders shook with laughter, and Haley glared at him then turned back to face Warren.

“Things are going too fast, Warren. We just got back together again. I think. I have a job I’m not giving up, Gordon has just joined us, and you haven’t met the total real me. You might not want this when you do.”

“He’s just letting me know who you are marrying, little one,” Gordon told her. “But, Haley, I’m forty-two. I want children, or at least one child, before much more time passes. I’d like to make the first baby, although we’ll both be fathers to any babies you have.”

“Babies?”

Warren and Haley spoke at the same time and then laughed together. As one, they reached out to Gordon, Haley stretching one arm behind her to wrap her fingers around the back of his neck. Warren grabbed his forearm and watched as Gordon smiled with contentment, hugging Haley to him and duplicating Warren’s own grasp.

Warren made room for the three of them to lay side by each on the big bed, Haley tucked between them. At least he had managed to get the side he usually slept on. The satisfaction of it made him smile. He was grateful for any small thing, and he liked the feeling, because it felt more precious. He kicked up the top sheet with his foot and drew it up and over them all.

“I haven’t slept well for a long time, Haley, without you in my bed, and suspect I’m going to need my rest in the upcoming days as we talk things through and fuck you into submission on a daily basis, sub. Gordon, turn off that light.”

The room plunged into darkness, and Warren listened to his woman fall asleep, making those little sounds that were so familiar to him. Gordon began to snore, and Warren grimaced. Maybe perfection it wasn’t, but he would take it. Gladly. He closed his eyes and hoped to dream of their future.
