CHAPTER TWELVE

It was six o’clock at night when they got back to Las Vegas. Samantha’s driver from the hotel was there to greet them. “Good evening Ms. Maxwell, are you ready to go home?”

Samantha grinned as she handed her driver their luggage. “Of course. Brent, did you have the hotel send your things to the house?” Brent nodded as he texted Sirius of his safe arrival.

Cameron stretch then looked at his watch, he needed to get some shut eye if he wanted to go into the garage in the morning.

Samantha looked up at him and frowned “aren’t you coming home with me?” Cameron smiled “I have to go home sooner or later baby. Why don’t I get dropped off at home then I’ll stop by your place in a couple of hours.”

She sighed then nodded “fine, leave me with Brent. You know he will drive me crazy right?” Brent made a face while Cameron laughed.

“I seriously doubt it baby. You know well and well you’re the one that drives him insane.” She scowled at him as she waved her hand dismissively “he likes it, anyways if you can Sir, will you bring a few things over so you can spend some nights with me?”

Cameron loved it when she asked for things like this. “We’ll see honey. Now go home and get settled in.” She glared at him which made him laugh.

He smiled on how adorable she looked when he didn’t give into her ways. He raised an eyebrow, making her cower back and say softly “fine honey, I won’t push.”

Cameron he kissed her nose then led her into the Mercedes. “We’ll discuss this at a later date, alright?” She nodded then cuddled into his side all the way to his house to drop him off.

Samantha and Brent were greeted by Vince, Lily, Emma and Jay. Rob and Trey were busy getting her security situated with the front gate and were coming in for dinner in a little while.

She hugged Lily and patted her on her
nonexistent belly “how are you momma?” Lily beamed “I’m good, how was Thailand?” Samantha knew what Lily was asking, how was the hot monkey sex with Cameron. Samantha gave her a Cheshire cat grin “well I joined the Mile High Club.”

Vince and Jay looked at her in disbelief while Brent grumbled “make it twice she joined the club. They say sound travels, I can attest to it.” He gave his boss a mock glare, she grinned.

“Don’t hate. I’m used to hearing all of you getting your groove on, it’s about time I’m getting mine.” Lily laughed as Samantha’s housekeeper took her bags to her room.

The house looked lived in after they set up her belongings from the New York estate. She smiled when she saw the pictures of her parents and then pictures of her, Lily and Vince through the years lining up on the fireplace mantle.

Samantha looked around then frowned “where’s my chair?” Vince made a face “that thing is in your office. I didn’t think it belonged out here.”

She growled “it belongs in front of the fireplace.” Vince rolled his eyes and looked over to Brent and Jay “help me bring the ugly thing out here.”

They at first when Samantha started barking orders on what and where she wanted things. By the time she was done they were ready to strangle her.

“Enough Sam, if you want it move I’m going to start charging overtime!” Jay said as Vince sat down exhausted on the couch.

Samantha shrugged as she looked over the room one more time, satisfied now on where everything was place. “I told you she would want it to look exactly like the house in New York.” Lily said dryly, Vince growled at his wife.

“I didn’t think she was serious.” Samantha and Lily looked at one another then laughed at Vince, he gave up. Her cook came in and informed them dinner was ready when Samantha’s phone rang “changed your mind sexy man?”

Cameron chuckled. He loved how she can call him things like sexy man and make him feel like he was her everything, just the way she was his. “I wanted to let you know, I need to get some laundry done and the accounting done for the garage, still want me to come over, it may be late.”

She glared at her phone then sighed, she didn’t want to scare the man away and she also needed to get some work done before she goes into the office in the morning.

“No honey, you get your chores and accounting done, come over for dinner tomorrow night?” He chuckled “alright baby, sweet dreams and I’ll talk to you tomorrow.”

“Night sexy man.” Samantha ended her call and smiled, she was falling head over heels for this man,
and she hoped she wasn’t the only one.

Cameron was shutting off his laptop so he can get to bed when he heard a knock on his door. He looked at his watch and saw it was past midnight, he frowned. Who the fuck comes calling at this hour.

He groaned when he saw who stood at his doorstep. He opened the door and hissed “why are you here Jacqueline?”

Nikkie’s sister looked strung out and ready to fall apart when she spoke “can I come in, we need to talk.”

Cameron rolled his eyes as he let her into his house, never noticing the man taking pictures of the interaction.

Samantha went over her notes from her Bangkok meeting when she got a call from Lily “have you heard from Cameron?”

She frowned “no, I thought he was at the garage.” “He hasn’t showed up to work and he’s not answering his phone.”

Samantha got her cellphone out of her purse when Brent walked in “you’ve got to see this.” He pulled up her alerts screen to see a picture taken of Cameron letting in a woman into his house last night. The caption on the photo was ‘Samantha Maxwell’s bad boy indulges in a midnight snack.’

She felt the bile rise in her throat when Lily yelled. “What’s wrong Sam, are you alright?” Sam sat down and whispered “no, I’m not alright. Look, I need to get out of here, I’ll call you when I get to where I’m going.”

She hung up her desk phone and grabbed her purse and messenger bag “call my driver and then the airport. I want to be in the air in thirty minutes.”

Brent knew not to ask questions and nodded. Samantha looked at the picture one more time and got angrier. She gave this man her heart and this is why he didn’t want to come over last night, well she’s not going to sit back and listen to what he has to say about it. She went to her private elevator straight to the garage and into the waiting car.

Cameron woke up and was disoriented. He felt like he was run over by a Mack truck doing eighty down the freeway. He went to move and felt the arm around his waist, he froze.

He looked down in horror to see Jacqueline, naked and sleeping soundly next to him. He had just sat up and realized he was in the same state when he heard his front door open.

“Cameron what the hell, are you alright?” Vince walked into his bedroom with Rob and Trey close behind, he froze. Cameron jumped out of his bed while Jacqueline sat up and wrapped the sheet around her.

Vince was ready to go after his best friend when the twins tackled him. “How could you do this man, I trusted you with Samantha and you go and get in bed with Jacqueline, what the fuck Cameron!”

Vince was losing it as Cameron was trying to remember what happened the night before. He looked at Jacqueline and noticed the smug look on her face, she set him up.

She looked at him and backed up to the head board. “I didn’t force you into anything Cam, you agreed.” Cameron shook his head as Vince shrugged the twins off and got in his face “I won’t cover this up for you man. Consider yourself disowned from my family.”

He was heading out of the house when he got a text from Lily. Once he read it, he looked back at Cameron and gave him a disgusted look. “Well at least I don’t have to tell her, your stupid ass got busted, the photos are all over the internet.”

Cameron yelled out to Vince “I swear to God, I didn’t know what I was doing!” Vince shook his head “You fucked up, now you get to deal with the fallout.”

Vince and the twins walked out of the house, leaving Cameron with a very terrified Jacqueline. Oh he’s going to get what he needed out of her or he’s going to be on death row by the time he’s done with her.

Jacqueline was dressed and trying to hurry out of Cameron’s house when he shut the door on her face. He locked it behind her and grabbed her arm, dragging her to his couch.

“Spill Jackie, or I swear to God I will go to prison but you’ll be in the morgue.” Jacqueline paled as she stuttered “what you are talking about Cam, like I said, you agreed to it.”

She played with her fingers, not looking at him, she was lying to him. He grabbed her purse at her protest and dumped the contents on his coffee table.

There among the contents from her purse was a small vial of Ketamine that was half empty. He looked at her in disbelief as she tried to explain. “I got a job at the veterinary hospital, I must have forgotten to put it back on the shelf.”

Cameron glared at her as he got his cellphone out of his pocket “Yes, I want to report an incident, I was drugged and I have the person that did it sitting before me.”

He ended his called and dared her to move. He placed his nine millimeter on his lap, her eyes locked on the gun. Cameron was praying for her to give him a reason to use it. “You’ve cost me a lot Jacqueline, why?”

She snapped at him, “You put my sister in jail because she was trying to get back together with you!” He looked at her surprised “who the hell told you this?” “Nikkie called me and begged me to bail her out. I got offered ten grand to get pictures of you and me, so I took it.”

She looked at her finger nails then gave him a hateful smile “sucks to lose something you cherish, right?” He was ready to wring her neck when he heard the police at his door.

He let them in and then produced the tape recorder from his back pocket. Jacqueline’s face went white “she confessed.” He said as he pointed to the vial and everything else on the coffee table.

The female officer read Jacqueline her rights as she was dragged out of his house. Cameron saw the paparazzi that took the photos and called him over.

“You want to redeem yourself before I make your life a living hell?” The man sneered at him “I didn’t do anything illegal.”

Cameron glared at him “no but you’re going to right a wrong, do you want the story or not.” The man looked wary then nodded. “Meet me in an hour at the corner Starbucks down the block.”

The man agreed as he got into his car. Cameron looked at his watch and back at his house. One hour to get his life back, once he did, he was going to have a bigger fight convincing the woman he loved he was set up.

CHAPTER THIRTEEN

Three weeks later

Samantha felt like death warmed over. After leaving Las Vegas she got in her jet and headed straight for her cabin in Washington State.

She spent the first few days crying and feeling sorry for herself. She purposely left her phone and computer in her messenger bag. She didn’t want to deal with the press or the world.

Her heart was in a million pieces and all she can think of was how much she hurt over Cameron’s betrayal. Before she left she informed Brent he was in charge and to get with Vince to find out what he wanted to do regarding the contracts they had with Cameron.

She didn’t want to let their business fail, but she also didn’t want to be involved with it. She decided she was going to keep her main offices at the Vegas location and since she had a lot of work abroad with Tokyo, Bangkok and now Dubai coming up, she’ll spend the rest of the year traveling to mend her heart.

Samantha was making another cup of tea when she heard a knock on her door. She groaned, she wished her friends would have given her a little time to get herself together before they barged in.

She opened the door and sure enough Vince, Lily, and Emma were at her front door. “So, are you going to let us in?” Lily drawled, Samantha rolled her eyes and stepped aside.

“You didn’t have to come out here, I was going to go back home in a few days.” “Yeah right, more like you would have gone home for a change of clothing then head off to Asia for a year” Lily snapped. Vince gave Samantha a hug “we need to talk, a lot has happened since you went off the grid you might not know.”

“Let me get this straight, the girl showed up and drugged him. Then she got paid ten grand from a photographer so he can take the photos?” Samantha paced the room, rubbing her temples.

For the last two hours Vince and Lily have been giving her the rundown on what occurred after she left Las Vegas. Cameron never knew what was going on because the girl drugged his coffee while he was trying to get her to leave his home.

“Cameron got the full confession as well as finding the vial in her purse. Jacqueline’s former boss is also pressing charges for stealing a controlled substance.” Vince stated as Lily fed Emma her lunch.

Samantha stopped then looked at Vince “so he’s been innocent all this time?” He nodded. “He never slept with her. The girl once the charges started piling up came clean when they were about to charge her with rape.”

Her eyes widened, Vince sighed. “When the officer hit her with the rape she told them she got help from the photographer to undress him and take the photos.”

She wiped the tears from her face. Cameron never betrayed her, yet she jumped to conclusions just from one photo. Samantha new from the past that the paparazzi could distort anything they want and people would believe it, hell she was one of them now.

Vince stood up and placed a hand on her shoulder. “Cameron’s been a mess without you Sam. I was ready to beat the man when I got the reports from the police station and a written confession from the photographer that took the photos. Seems he will be brought up on charges too, so he turned on her.”

She shook her head in disbelief. Three weeks of putting herself through torment and heartache, all for some sick woman’s pleasure. She was going to be sick again. Samantha ran into the bathroom and threw up the little bit she had in her stomach.

Samantha felt as Lily pulled her hair up and handed her a warm washcloth. “How long has this been going on Sam?” Lily asked, she shrugged. “It’s been going on for the last week. I think I’ve got a stomach virus, you may need to stay away Lil.”

She snorted “I seriously doubt it. When was your last period Sam?” Samantha looked at Lily in shock, it’s been a while since she had her period. Since the week before she went to Thailand with Cameron.

Lily smiled “that’s what I thought. Let’s get you to the local doctor to confirm then we can go home. You and Cameron have a lot to talk about.”

Samantha was in a haze when she went into the doctor’s office and confirmed she indeed was almost five weeks pregnant.

“I’m on the pill” she stated to her doctor, she chuckled. “You know that birth control isn’t fool proof. You do however need to stop taking them. Here’s a prescription for the vomiting and your prenatal vitamins. Besides that, follow up with your obstetrician and get your appointments set.”

Samantha nodded as Lily asked the doctor “can she fly long distances?” The doctor smiled “Samantha can fly until her fifth month, after that I’d say you wait on any flights until after your baby is born.” Samantha shook her head “but I have two hotels going up in Asia, I need to be there.”

Her doctor gave her a stern look “I suggest you find someone to represent you Ms. Maxwell. You don’t want to risk hurting your baby.”

Samantha placed her hands on her tummy and shook her head. She didn’t want anything to happen to her unborn child. Lily grinned as she walked Samantha out of the doctor’s office.

“So what did the doctor say?” Vince asked, Lily chuckled. “Sam’s going to be a mommy. Wait until Cameron finds out.”

Samantha stopped in her tracks, what if he’s not ready to have a baby? “I don’t think I want to go back home, what if this upsets him?”

Vince rolled his eyes. “You’re going home. Cameron will be ecstatic when he finds out he’s going to be a daddy. Maybe then he’ll get out of his funk and come join the living.” Samantha snorted while Lily laughed “that’s my girl. Let’s get your ass home.”

Cameron w
orked underneath the Impala they were customizing when he heard Vince’s voice. “Get out here, we need to talk brother.”

He scowled “I’m busy, leave me a message on my desk.” He wasn’t in the mood to deal with his best friend. The last three weeks have been a nightmare for Cameron.

Everywhere he looked him can see, smell, hell he can still feel Samantha under his skin? He broke her heart and while he cleared his name with the rest of her family, no one has heard from her.

Cameron was giving her one more week of space, afterward he was going to find her, even if it took the rest of his life.

He tightened the oil filter with his wrench when he heard her. “You sure you want me to leave you a message?” Samantha said softly.

Cameron dropped his wrench, almost giving himself a concussion. “Shit, one sec.” He clamped down the oil filter and got out from underneath the car.

He looked and saw Samantha’s face and it nearly broke him. She’s lost weight and was pale. She was dressed in faded jeans and a long sleeved black t-shirt, her hair in a ponytail. He stood in front of her, afraid to touch her yet aching to put his arms around her.

Samantha took the initiative and wrapped her arms around him. “I’m so sorry for leaving without hearing your side of it. The pictures were just so bad, I thought it was my fault for being so needy.”

She babbled around her tears while Cameron wrapped his arms around her holding her tightly “god baby I thought I died when I found out you took off. I’ve been miserable without you.”

Samantha pulled back and wiped her face then smiled “I guess I need to just drop a wrench on your head before I leave halfcocked to another state.” She touched the knot growing on his head.

Cameron chuckled as he kissed her chastely “I don’t care if you throw the whole set at me, as long as we talk to one another, clear?”

She nodded then looked him over, he was covered in car grime, she squealed. “Ewe you got me all dirty!” He laughed then pulled her back into his arms “get over it Ms. Maxwell. Now let’s get cleaned up and I’ll take you to lunch, want Chinese?”

Samantha’s face went green then she pushed him away as she ran to the ladies room. He looked at Vince confused. He’s never seen her react like that before, especially to Chinese food.

His best friend laughed “just remember this, you don’t know what it’s like and when she asks if she looks fat say no!” Cameron froze as Vince nodded “go take care of yours daddy Cam.”

Cameron rushed into the ladies room and saw Samantha at the sink splashing water on her face. She looked at him and gave him a wobbly smile “I guess big mouth told you?”

He nodded then walked towards her “are you happy Sam?” he asked, she nodded. “I’ve always wanted a baby, I just didn’t think it would happen this quickly. And before you ask, I did ask the doctor if I can sue the pharmaceutical company for my birth control and she said no.”

Cameron laughed as he leaned back on the counter and pulled her between his legs. “Well I guess the warning label on the package was right, it’s not one hundred percent protection.”

She shook her head and looked up at him, her voice shaky “are you sure you’re alright about this Cam, because right now I’m just excited that I have a part of us growing inside me.”

He put his chin on the top of her head and breathed in her scent, god he missed her so much. “Right now I’m just happy you’re in my arms and carrying my baby. The rest we’ll muddle through.”

Samantha giggled then stepped back. “I’m hungry but not for what you mentioned.” She made a face, just the mention of any Asian food made her want to hurl. Cameron smiled then took her hand in his. “Alright baby, you pick and we’ll go there.”

She grinned “I’m in the mood for breakfast.” He laughed “Hash House?” Her eyes gleamed, he chuckled. “Alright baby, let’s get you and my baby fed, we have a lot to discuss.”

They walked out of the ladies room and saw Vince, Lily and Emma waiting. “We’re having lunch?” Lily asked, Samantha nodded.

“Good, I’m in the mood for Thai.” Vince said. Lily and Samantha both looked green as the
y ran back into the bathroom. “Nice, now we’re both going to get our asses chewed for this.” Cameron hissed, Vince grimaced. “Sorry brother.”
